Project DescriptionSoldier van Oranje – Katwijk
The musical is staged in an airplane hangar converted into a theater. The Theater Hangaar is located at the former Valkenburg military airport in Katwijk and forms an appropriate historical site. A reception room has been built for the hangar, which serves as a foyer. There is a bar, restaurant and an exhibition about Englandmen, about which the story “Soldier of Orange” is about.
Designing the rotating stand “Musical 2.0” with optimum lines of sight, as many seats as possible and good connection to the escape routes in all positions. Integration of theater lighting and sound in this rotating hall design. In short, a good example of the integral advice and design approach of the team of PB Theater Advisors and together with acoustic advice from our sister company Scena Acoustic Advisors.
The musical premiered on October 30, 2010 in the Theatre Air base, specially built for the performance, at Valkenburg Airbase in Katwijk. It had its 1000th performance on 26 September 2013 and its 1095th performance at the end of December 2013. Since then, it has been the longest-running theater production ever in the Netherlands, which means that on October 30, 2015, the show has been on show for 5 years. The musical has been extended up to and including April 2016.
